Jesus Speaking

What does the Lord want you to do?

What does the Lord want you to do in your life and your work?

What is your life purpose? What does He want you to do? What opportunities is the Lord sending into your life to discover His purpose for you?

Learn how to converse with the Lord on a daily basis. Find more clarity in your life and work.Remember we do not have to seek the Lord. He is with us every moment of every day. We need to learn how to ask better questions and learn how to listen to what he is saying to us.To come to know ourselves we must come to know the Lord. To foster this relationship we must converse with Christ daily with Scripture. Five years ago he started journaling conversations with the Lord, and now over 1700 people daily encounter Christ through Jesus Speaking with the pattern of Ignatius Exercises.

“Jesus Speaking is a personal daily conversation with the Lord based on the scripture passages.``

Each morning you receive Jesus Speaking along with a question to ask the Lord that brings a sense of His presence into your daily life.Over a period of time through these daily reflections you will come to insights that will confirm more clearly who Jesus wants you to be and what He wants you to do with your life. The pattern of these conversations were demonstrated in the life of Ignatius of Loyola called The Exercises.

Example

Good Morning, my beloved disciple, I am with you today.

It is the truth that will set you free.

Today’s Encounter…Jesus Speaking (Jn. 5:31-47) C Wed. 4th wk. of Lent.

When your actions are anchored in the truth, you will find freedom. If, like the anchor of a boat, truth is set firmly in your heart, the winds of the world can only blow you around, but they will not dash you on the rocks.

When the storm passes and the glory of my Father’s creation is once again calm, you will not regret your doings.

In the time of Solomon the wicked said among themselves, “Let us beset the just one, because…he sets himself against our (worldly) doings…let us condemn him to a shameful death, for according to his own words, God will take care of him” (Wis. 2: 1a, 12-22)

These were their thoughts because they were not grounded in truth; the world was too attractive for them, but they erred; for their wickedness (earthly desires) blinded them.

They thought they were in control of the world, to do as they wish without consequences.

The psalmist mirrored this when he sang, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted…when the just cry out, the Lord hears them, and from all their distress he rescues them” (Ps. 34: 17-18, 19-20, 21 and 23).

I moved about within Galilee; but did not wish to travel in Judea because they were trying to kill me; the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near. When my disciples went up to the feast, I also went up.

Some of the Inhabitants of Jerusalem said, “Is he not the one they are trying to kill? And he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him.”

You see I did not come on my own, but the one who sent me (my Father) is truth.

Morning Prayer:

O Lord, help me to stay grounded so I do not give in to the temptation.

Evening Reflection:

O Lord, how today did I overcome the temptations of the world?

Thomas Winninger

CSMA, Commentator, Encounters with Christ

Fifteen years ago, after all his achievements, Winninger, much like David, found himself in a cave. What he had accomplished seemed no longer to have meaning; the things he had acquired, suddenly, had no value! What he had worked so hard for was losing significance. After delivering over 3,000 speeches worldwide, being inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame, receiving the highest service award by the nearly 4,000 members of the National Speakers Association and authoring seven books, Winninger felt that none of his achievements seemed important. In the depth of reflection, he rediscovered His relationship with the Lord using a pattern of prayer introduced by Ignatius and, in doing so, he learned that none of us can find our purpose in life without knowing Christ.

“Jesus Speaking helps me to keep worldly concerns in perspective, much in the way Sunday mass does, reminding me of what really matters, and giving me food for thought.”

GREG SEITZ

“Jesus Speaking deep insights help simplify how I should think about my relationship with God; straight forward and impactful. A breath of fresh air that makes me think and also calms my mind and soul.”

SCOTT EDSTROM

“With everything going on in today’s world, I am so thankful each day when I receive and read Jesus Speaking insights. I realized how much I look forward to receiving the e-mails on one day in particular when they were sent a little later than usual I was frozen for a moment thinking that Thom decided to stop sending them.  Thank God they continue coming.”

BETTE BAILEY

“These daily reflections have led me to discover and treasure my true authentic self, as a child of God. His reflections have strengthened my purpose of living Gods work, each and every day.”

MEGAN VILLARES

“The way these daily Jesus Speaking reflections personalize words in Scripture has brought me to a more intimate relationship with Jesus. ‘Receiving an Email from Jesus’ every morning is the best part of my day!   And I don’t have to email back to Jesus because I know He is right there within me reminding me of His teachings and listening to my every response while the Holy Spirit fills me with grace and renewed understanding.  This is “social media” at its best!”

EILEEN

“Thom helped me open up to the leadings of the Holy Spirit. My life is better through Thom’s writings from his heart.”

BERT CHRISTENSEN

“The reflections I receive from Thom keep me grounded and well-focused on my purposes in life.  I think these reflections add up within me (over time helping shape me) but what I most enjoy is on a daily basis reading his words and thinking about it for that day.  I realize the cumulative effect has a very positive impact on who I should be, what I hope to be, and what I need to do to become the best I can.”

DAN BALLARD

“They give me insights on my gifts, the discernment of God’s will and the resulting peace of mind when both are aligned are wonderful.  They were catalysts that helped me crystallize my ministry vision and focus.”

SCOTT HANER

“I find joy, comfort, encouragement and peace through God’s words, and Thom’s commentary in this outstanding devotional.  Gentle but profound wisdom for each day, seemingly ‘just for me’!  What a blessing!”

NAOMI RHODE

“Life is fast and complex.  These reflections always provide a necessary pause from the chaos and an important lesson to contemplate.  I delete hundreds of emails each day but never Jesus Spekaing messages!”

MICHAEL MILLER

“It is important that I respond to the gift God has bestowed on me.  Because of Thom’s daily reflections I have come to understand my… purpose in a more focused way. Each day starts with a scripture lesson that requires my response and as the day progresses I keep that lesson in mind.  At the end of the day it is valuable to see what I did to support the lesson.  Thank you, Thom, for sharing your gift to keep us in the saving arms of Our Lord!”
